Pontiac, Michigan – February 27, 2026
Liverpool FC International Academy Michigan is pleased to announce a new collaborative relationship with Troy Youth Soccer League (TYSL), focused on strengthening player and coach development across the Troy community.
TYSL is a community-based, volunteer-run recreational soccer league with deep roots in Troy since 1974, serving children from early childhood through high school and focusing on grassroots development. The organization is supported entirely by volunteers and board members who organize teams, practices, and league operations.
LFC IA Michigan has served the Southeast Michigan soccer community for the last 10 years and currently supports over 2,300 players across the region. As Michigan’s only true coaching academy, the club operates under a proven curriculum delivered by accredited, professional staff, creating a team environment that reflects the standards and characteristics of Liverpool Football Club — one of the most recognized brands in the world.
Through this relationship, LFC IA Michigan’s coaching staff will provide mentorship to TYSL volunteer coaches and offer supplemental development opportunities for recreational players. The goal is to support grassroots soccer while helping elevate soccer development across the area. The initiative will be led by coaches from LFC IA Michigan’s Central site, headquartered at the UWM Sports Complex in Pontiac and less than five miles from Troy.
This relationship also creates a clear pathway into LFC IA Michigan’s travel program for recreational players who aspire to compete at the next level. TYSL has agreed to endorse LFC IA Michigan as its travel option, creating a clear next step for recreational players ready to continue their development in a more competitive environment.
LFC IA Michigan and TYSL are aligned in their shared belief that soccer should develop not only strong players, but confident young people who grow through the game. This commitment reflects LFC IA Michigan’s broader vision to develop children through football while fostering a love for the game and creating lasting memories.
“We’re excited to be working together,” said Andrew Wagstaff, Chief Executive Officer of LFC IA Michigan. “TYSL has been a strong part of the Troy soccer community for decades, and we value the experience and foundation they’ve built. Aligning with a respected community partner like TYSL allows us to better support players and families while creating a clear next step for those who want to continue their development. It’s a positive move for both organizations and for the community we serve.”
