Our mentorship initiative, launched in 2022, has proven to be a tremendous success in fostering connections between our seasoned soccer players and the future stars of Liverpool FC IA Michigan Girls program.
Throughout the five-week program which spans from late fall through early winter, girls from the older age groups generously volunteer their time to attend training sessions with the younger girls. They actively participate in coaching, playing alongside, and engaging with the younger girls, creating an enriching and fun environment for skill development and camaraderie.
We take pride in witnessing the genuine interactions and the formation of friendships and mentor-mentee relationships. The program not only benefits the younger players but also holds significant advantages for our older players. As they contribute to the growth of the next generation, they gain valuable leadership skills, experience personal and professional development, and create memorable experiences for themselves and their younger peers.
We are proud to continue building a strong community of passionate and dedicated soccer players, where every player has the opportunity to give back, create positive memories, and contribute to the success of Liverpool FC IA Michigan Girls. Together, we’re not just developing soccer skills; we’re fostering a supportive and empowering environment for players of all ages.
Fall Fest Weekend
On Friday, November 3, 2023, our young players from the 2017 and 2016 teams came together to make posters and friendship bracelets in preparation for attending Saturday’s 2006/05 ECNL Girls match versus Hawks Magic. The girls cheered on the ECNL Girls as they defeated their opponent 3-1 while enjoying donuts and hot chocolate. The next day, the Seniors returned the favor and cheered for the 2016 and 2017 girls at their games.
“BE empoweRED” Girls Only Soccer Clinic
Reds Events hosted its first “Girls Only Clinic” on January 15th, 2024. 32 Girls from ages 6-12 came out to UWM Sports Complex to improve both their soccer and life skills with an all female staff including: Girls Pre-Academy Phase Director Jenna Taylor, Coach Roo Niazy (Masters in Sports Psychology/Youth Development), Coach Kat O’Shea, and Coach Justice Tillotson. With fun and engaging workshops facilitated by Coach Roo, the girls had discussions about self identity, positive self talk, nutrition, leadership, and had a fun time watching an older girls team play next door in a friendly during our lunch break.
Overall, it was a great event and we look forward to hosting more “Girls Only” events in the future to help empower young female athletes in the community on and off the field!
