Originally from Curitiba, Brazil, Matheus relocated to the United States at the age of 5. Coming from a family of professional soccer players, his passion for the game began early. He played competitive travel soccer in the Ann Arbor area and participated in Michigan’s Olympic Development Program. At Father Gabriel Richard High School, Matheus was a standout, becoming a four-year Varsity player. He held the record for most goals scored by a freshman (21) for six years, a record recently surpassed by one of his own players. Matheus also played for Trieste FC in Brazil before transitioning to coaching due to an ACL injury.
Matheus’s coaching career includes serving as a coach at Liverpool International Academy since 2021. He is currently the Women’s Assistant Coach and Strength and Conditioning Coach at Madonna University, a position he began in 2023. At Father Gabriel Richard High School, Matheus has held several roles, including Head Varsity Women’s Coach (2023 – Present), Head JV Men’s Coach (2018-2020, 2023 – Present), and Assistant Varsity Men’s Coach (2018-2020, 2023 – Present). He also served as the Head Varsity Boys Coach at Rudolf Steiner High School in 2021 and 2022.
Matheus holds a degree from Concordia University.
