Javi played collegiate soccer at Ashford University, where he captained the Saints to an NAIA Final Four and won the Champion of Character award four times. In the summers of 2013 and 2014, he helped lead the Quad City Eagles to two NPSL Central Midwest conference championships, before moving to Michigan to play for Detroit City FC. After a few seasons, he then left for North Carolina to complete his Masters degree at Gardner-Webb, an NCAA Division 1 university where he was a graduate assistant coach for the women’s soccer program.
Returning to Michigan in 2018, Javi joined the Detroit City FC staff as the assistant coach for the men’s professional team, where he stayed until 2022. During his time there, he was part of the Detroit City side that went undefeated for almost an entire calendar year, winning multiple championships and establishing itself as the most successful program in NISA. Following his time there, Javi joined the Michigan Hawks, where he coached two ECNL teams and a pre-ECNL team. At the Hawks, Javi became the first coach to qualify the Magic teams to the national playoffs, achieving this in all four opportunities.
