Andy started playing soccer at a very young age in his native England. Andy was part of a very select group of youth players in England to sign both a schoolboy contract and then a two-year apprentice professional contract at Huddersfield Town AFC and Bury FC in England. At the age of eighteen, Andy was offered a chance to move to the USA and play collegiate soccer. During his four-year career at Oakland University Andy earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and minor in Sociology.
Andy signed a professional contract to play for the Detroit Neon and then the Detroit Rockers. During his professional playing career, Andy began a successful coaching career that started as Youth Coach for Bloomfield Force (Force FC) and then assistant coach of the Oakland University Women’s soccer program. Andy became the Director of Coaching for Bloomfield Force in 1995 and is presently the club’s General Manager. His experience as a player and as a coach along with his passion and commitment was the foundation for the club then and now.
Andy has great coaching success at the high school and club levels. He led the ’89 Force Girls to two consecutive National Championships in 2007 and 2008, the only Michigan soccer team to ever do so. He also led the ’90 Force Boys to the Michigan state championships in 2008. At the high school level, Andy managed to win the MHSAA State Championships with Bloomfield Hills-Lahser Boys in 1999 and was a runner up in 2002. During that time, Andy was traveling to the UK to work for Liverpool Football Club community in football program as well as with Bolton Wanderers as their U10 Boys academy coach. He continued his education by achieving a post graduate certificate in Sports Psychology from Liverpool-John Moores University and completed the UEFA ‘B’ Coaching License. Andy holds a USSF ‘A’ License and has just recently achieved the prestigious UEFA ‘A’ license in the UK.
Other awards that Andy has received include the 1999 MHSAA District coach of the year, 2006 Michigan Girls Competitive Coach of the Year, 2006 Michigan Youth Competitive Coach of the Year and the 2007 NSCAA Midwest Regional Girls Coach of the Year. Andy ended a 3-year role as the Assistant Coach at Oakland University in 2015 to take the Head Coaching position at Saginaw Valley State University Men’s Soccer team. Regarding our staff here at Liverpool FC:
“Over the past several years my task has been to develop the club in a number of areas. Those areas include the brand, the coaching, the facilities and the organization of our club. In my opinion, this year we have achieved all of those goals. Most crucially we have excelled in one of the most important areas, the coaches and staff we hire. I am as proud and excited as I have ever been to stand behind our club and the staff we now have in place. This will prove to be an exciting year of continued growth and success for LFC International Academy Michigan.”
