Roberto Mazza

LFC MI WINDSOR SITE DIRECTOR
Phone: 519-817-1610

  • Mail

Roberto was born and raised in Windsor/Tecumseh Ontario, Canada.

After a 10 year stint in college coaching in the Unites States, he’s back in Canada to bring a special opportunity to athletes who want to develop their game and play at a higher level with Liverpool International Academy – Michigan.

Mazza’s distinguished and successful soccer career arguably began as a soccer player for St. Anne’s High School in Tecumseh. At 18 years old, Mazza was invited to play with the USA Soccer Academy in two prestigious youth world cups in Sweden and Denmark. He made an impression and impact in the Dana Cup (Denmark) as he scored five goals in a game against a reputable German side. After the tournament, Mazza was invited to play for a team in the German third division. Mazza was also recruited by college coaches in the US.

Mazza decided to take the college path and he signed with Francis Marion University (NCAA Division II). A year later he transferred to nationally ranked, Tiffin University (NAIA). He went on to become the team captain in his senior year. It was the first time a Canadian player ever wore the captain band for Tiffin University soccer. After graduating with a degree in business administration, Mazza went on to coach college soccer.

In 2006, Mazza started his NCAA Division I coaching career as an assistant coach with Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU). In 2007, he was hired to take over the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) soccer program. In three seasons Mazza brought the program from last place to first place in the conference. He made his mark when UAPB advanced to the NCAA Division I national tournament in 2009 and 2011. In 2010 and 2011, UAPB was the regular season champion. 2011 marked the first time in school history any UAPB team qualified for the conference tournament, won the regular season title, won the conference tournament, and advanced to the NCAA Division I national tournament. The overall record of the program under Mazza’s leadership was 48-27-12.

After the NCAA tournament in November of 2011, the University of Louisiana Monroe hired Roberto as the third head coach in ULM soccer program history.

Roberto turned the program around in his time at ULM. In his first season they won their first conference game in three years. The team broke the program record for points in a season with 126 shattering the previous record of 104 set in 2005. ULM took the #14 nationally ranked team to double overtime, but lost with 46 seconds left. The non-conference overall record of the program under his leadership was 26-22-4 and home record was 21-12-3.

Qualifications:

  • USSF National Youth License
  • NSCAA Advanced National License

What does it mean to represent Liverpool FC:

“I have been blessed to coach many amazing student-athletes over the past ten years. Coming back home to Canada and starting Liverpool FC in my hometown is exciting for me and my family.”
