Kevin is currently the Liverpool FC – International Academy Michigan Director of Coaching. As the club DOC, Kevin oversees the coaching staff and coach education for all locations. Over his 17 years of coaching, Garner has been involved in the development of players that have competed at the regional level, as well as players that have represented the National team. Kevin has also placed a large number of players into all levels of collegiate athletics on both the boy’s and the girl’s side.
Garner currently serves as the Men’s assistant coach for Oakland University. In 2021 He helped the Golden Grizzlies to a record of 6-1-2 with an RPI of #20 in the country. In his second season, Oakland won both the Horizon League and Horizon league tournament taking them the the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2015.
Garner also was the former Head Coach of Rochester University where he led the Warriors to one of their most successful seasons in program history finishing with a 13-2-2 record to earn a berth into the National Tournament.
Garner holds many sports and coaching-related qualifications including a BTEC National Diploma in Sports Science, BBA in Business and Sports Management, USSF ‘A’ Coaching license, NSCAA Premier Diploma (Distinguished Pass), and numerous English FA special topics certificates
Prior to his move to the United States, Garner played for Crewe Alexandra F.C, Lincoln City F.C, represented the city of Newcastle-under-Lyme, as well as North Lincolnshire College in the British Colleges and Universities League.
Garner was a three-time All-American at Rochester University and team captain during his junior and senior year majoring in Sports Management. He graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management in 2004. Kevin also made the National Dean’s list for academics in 2003 and 2004.
Garner lives in Clinton Township with his wife Leah and their three sons, Liam, Joey, and Matty.
