Liverpool FC Michigan is proud that seven of our Super Y League (SYL) players were invited to the 2019 USL Experience with the Tampa Bay Rowdies.  These players were handpicked from the hundreds of players attending the SYL Nationals last December. The annual USL Experience brings 72 SYL elite youth players together for a unique multi-day event to experience soccer just as the pros do.

U13 player Logan Lilla was the first player to receive an invitation at SYL Nationals and commented on what being chosen for this experience meant to him. “All I dreamed about was to be a pro soccer player and that’s kind of what’s happening at this age and I’m so happy,” said Lilla.

Also attending the event in April are Connor Laming (U13), Isabelle Barrette (U15), Lilley Bosley (U15), William Knight (U13), and Emma Berdiner (U15).  Amalia Villarreal (U15) was invited for a second year, but will be unable to attend.

Berdiner, who will return to the USL Experience for a second year, commented on last year's event. “It was actually really fun and it was exciting. You got to meet professional players. It’s a great opportunity to meet other great players, and it’s just an experience that might be once in a lifetime.”

"We are of course really proud of these players who have been selected," said Daniel Price, LFCIA-MI SYL Director of Coaching. "The experience will be one to remember for them and we hope they will enjoy themselves and tell us all about their experience when they return.”

Liverpool FC Michigan has been part of the summer Super Y League for seven seasons and holds four SYL National Championships, most recently winning the U15 Girls title in 2018.  Last December, four of the club's SYL teams qualified for Nationals, the most teams ever for the club whose program has seen tremendous growth over the years.  To have seven players selected for the professional experience is another achievement.

“This is just another example of why Super Y is a fantastic development model for kids who want to play through the summer,” continued Price. “Not only have these seven players played at a National Championship, they have been selected as stand-outs worthy of this unique experience with the pros.  Well done to all players!"

Logan Lilla was the first player at the 2018 SYL Nationals to receive an invitation to 2019 USL Experience.
