As our LFC Family continues to grow, I am excited to share with you some staff promotions that are taking place within the club.
Effective immediately, we are expanding the role of Michigan Director of Coaching to assume additional responsibilities within our club. This will now be a day-to-day leadership position overseeing and actively engaging with Directors of Coaching at all of our locations. Kevin Garner, our current Michigan Director of Coaching, will take on this expanded role and be responsible for setting the coaching philosophy, implementing a progressive curriculum, and ensuring consistency and excellence across all sites in Michigan. Kevin is a USSF A Licensed coach, in addition to being certified as a Liverpool FC International Academy coach. Furthermore, Kevin will actively collaborate with our coaching staff to provide mentorship, guidance, and continuous training opportunities to further enhance their coaching abilities. Kevin will operate out of our Central site and will also continue to coach teams there.
In addition, I have asked Kevin (now nearly 20 years working with me and for the club) to take on certain executive functions within the club, working side-by-side with me as we establish strategies for improvement and growth within the club. Kevin is uniquely qualified for this role given his experience with the club and his relationships within the soccer community.
Kevin will be passing the baton as Central Site Director of Coaching, a position in which he has led the club for twelve years, to Ben Jones. Ben is also a USSF A License coach and certified Liverpool FC International Academy coach who has been with us for seven years and has done an outstanding job with his teams, as well as working as our older boys Technical Director. Ben recently worked as an Assistant Coach at Lawrence Tech University Men’s soccer program and is actively involved as a US Soccer Coaching Educator. Ben capped off a very exciting spring season with a State Cup Championship with the 2008 E64 Boys team and is excited to take on the position. In this role, Ben will be responsible for leading the Central site coaching staff and will be tasked with coaching education.
Join me in congratulating Kevin and Ben on their well-deserved promotions and we look forward to their success in their roles and their leadership. We have a professional, talented staff here at LFC Michigan and we continue to grow and evolve as an organization. I have more to share regarding how we will be structured as an organization going forward in the coming weeks. Our goal remains focused on strengthening our coaching team, improving our programs, and delivering the best possible experience for our players and families.
We appreciate your continued support and look forward to sharing more updates with you soon.
